The Source of the Films
The LotR book was a sequel to J.R. Tolkien’s previous book: The Hobbit written in 1937. In 1949 he finished the story and was published in 1955. But due to post-war paper shortage, the book was divided into three volumes (six sections and six appendices) thus becoming the famous trilogy.
